How to Keep Your Heat During Snow Storms

Before and during extreme weather conditions, it’s common for people to prepare for the inclement weather by picking up milk, bread and water from the grocery store. Everyone wants to be prepared for the worst, but forgets about the heating system.

Here are some important tips for your specific system to keep your heat running during snow storms.

Heat Pump

Clear snow off the top, sides, underneath and surrounding area of the unit to allow proper drainage during defrost.

 

 

Direct Vent Furnace

Keep both exhaust and intake flue pipes clear of snow.

 

Fuel Tank

Make outside oil and propane tanks accessible for emergency refills. In deep snow, it helps to mark the location of an underground tank with stakes.
